Roof Leak Repair Technician

ROOF LEAK TECHNICIAN JOB DESCRIPTION
Definition: This position is defined as a craftsman with a skill and experience level greater than a helper or laborer. The roofer will generally have a smaller tool inventory. They will know asphalt roofing systems primarily. Though metal and EPDM roofing is a plus. They are familiar with how water is supposed to flow down a roof. Receive addresses and description of leak, meet customer, go into attic to see leak from below, and then safely operate on the roof solving that leak.
Experience
Minimum of three years in asphalt roofing position.
Knowledge
Knowledge of decking, underlayments, shingles, flashings, sealants and cements. Know how roof systems are installed. Understanding of roof ventilation and attic airflow. Knowledge of safety protocols such as installing and using rope and harness, ladder jacks, roof jacks, falling and struck by hazards.
Interpersonal and Communications Skills
Able to understand verbal and written instructions..
Adept at meeting and discussing the roof leaks with customers. Taking before, during, and after photos.
Organizational Skills
Able to organize assigned tasks, for completion alone or with help.
Able to complete and fulfill paperwork required for personal time sheets in a timely manner.
Problem Solving
Able to envision water flow and determine where the leak is. .
Working Conditions
Most of time is spent working at job sites. Some driving is required. Valid driver's license is required.
Physical
Job requires ability to perform tasks on all areas and aspects of construction project. Requires ability to climb ladders and crawl for distances.
Job requires ability to work with tools, lumber and materials. Ability to lift and manipulate objects greater than 50lbs as needed.
Hazards

A laborer is a crew member who receives instructions and follows them.

Daily Tasks Include
-Receiving measurements from carpenter and then measuring and cutting wood
-Cleaning
-Painting
-general skilled trade support
-Loading and unloading supplies and tools
-Listening to instructions, and following them by executing a similar series of steps over and over again.

Carpenter 1

CARPENTER JOB DESCRIPTION
Definition: A carpenter is defined as a craftsman with a skill and experience level greater than a helper or laborer, but less than a lead carpenter. The carpenter will generally have a smaller tool inventory and may need direction to perform more advanced carpentry skills.
Job Requirements
Education - High School Graduate
Experience
Minimum of three years in all phases of residential construction.
Knowledge
Knowledge of residential construction and remodeling trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, and safety.
Proficient at the following tasks: stain-grade trim work, hang doors, drill and set door hardware, set windows, layout for stairs and common rafters, read blueprints, utilize appropriate math skills.
Able to read blueprints.
Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material estimates.
Interpersonal and Communications Skills
Able to understand verbal and written instructions..
Adept at establishing relationships with all parties involved in the construction process that facilitate harmonious working relationships during project, and permit prompt resolution of problems and conflicts as they occur.
Organizational Skills
Able to organize assigned tasks, for completion alone or with help.
Able to complete and fulfill paperwork required for personal time sheets in a timely manner.

CARPENTER 2 JOB DESCRIPTION
Definition: A Carpenter 2 is defined as a craftsman with extensive skill and experience level, able to manage job sites with multiple workers and trade contractors. These workers have their own basic and intermediate hand and power tools.
Job Requirements
Proven experience in residential remodeling with strong trade knowledge.
Must have moderate hands-on carpentry experience including the use of hand tools and power tools.
Good attitude and positive outlook
Communication skills.
Results driven and have the ability to effectively manage and follow through when given multiple priorities.
Basic computer and hand held electronics device knowledge.
Basic organizational skills

Experience
Minimum of 5 years in many phases of residential and/or commercial construction. Supervisory experience is a plus, but not required.
Knowledge
Extensive knowledge of residential construction and remodeling trades, practices, procedures, plumb, level, square, rise, run, roofing, techniques, tools and equipment, risk management, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, safety and applicable building codes.
Able to do layout, some framing, finish carpentry of typical projects, including kitchens and baths, room remodeling, building stairs, finish carpentry.
Interpersonal and Communications Skills
Able to clearly explain steps, provide clear directions, and answer questions about construction processes to employees and subcontractors.
Adept at establishing relationships with all parties involved in the construction process that facilitate harmonious working relationships during project, and permit prompt resolution of problems and conflicts as they occur.

Definition: A carpenter 3 is defined as a journeyman with a skill and experience level greater than most. An ability to complete most all normal carpentry tasks on a residential project.
Experience
Minimum of nine years in all phases of residential construction.
Knowledge
Knowledge of residential construction and remodeling trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, and safety.
Proficient at the following tasks: stain-grade trim work, hang doors, drill and set door hardware, set windows, layout for stairs and common rafters, read blueprints, utilize appropriate math skills.
Tradesman knowledge of roofing, flooring, rough carpentry, finish carpentry, openings, foundations, and finishing.
Expert knowledge in project quality.
Able to use most all power and hand tools that are typical to residential remodeling carpentry.
Able to read blueprints.
Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material estimates.
General working knowledge New York State Building Code
Ability to consistently do it right the first time.
Knowledge of carpentry best practices.
